I recently received an enquiry from
Tim Millett of Timothy Millett Limited (Historical Medals and Works of Art) regarding the silver medal above which possibly
dates from the late 18th/early 19th Century.
It
has been suggested that the four sets of pin marks may have secured the medal to school uniform to ‘protect’
the wearer from press-gangs.
If anyone can
shed further light on this medal, please e-mail Tim. His
website is at: http://www.historicalmedals.com
In reply to my enquiry of 31 August 2009 regarding value of this very special Fermor badge, Tim said he would
accept £225.
